In the course of the initial collision in the Asia and Indian plates, this granitic batholith was buried to depths of about 20 kilometres (twelve mi) or maybe more, very metamorphosed, remarkably deformed, and partially remelted during the Eocene Period to sort gneiss. Later, the K2 Gneiss was
